This scheme was for construction of 2000m of 6.5m wide spine road and footways to Section 38 adoptable standard enabling residential and commercial development opportunities on the disused former British Steel Brymbo site on the outskirts of Wrexham. Two new three legged roundabouts were required on the spine road for future development requirements along with provision of services to facilitate the development parcels.
Highway drainage, street lighting, road signs and road markings were all included. The spine road required Section 278 tie-ins to Railway Road and Gwalia Road which necessitated the use of contractor designed and operated traffic management at these busy intersections.
This 8½ month project was completed on time and to budget despite challenging weather conditions for long periods throughout the winter.
