Who we are

McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd is a civil engineering and building contractor registered in England (No. 00832117), with its registered office at Horton House, Hortonwood 50, Telford, Shropshire, TF1 7FG. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under reference ZA683002.

This policy covers this website, and the enquiries, job applications and newsletter sign-ups that come through it.

Information we collect

We hold only what you choose to give us. Nothing on this website asks for information you have not sent us yourself.

• Enquiries. Your name and email address, and anything else you add — your company, telephone number, the type of enquiry and your message. If you are asking about a project you may also tell us its location and approximate value.
• Job applications. The same contact details, the role you are interested in, and your CV if you attach one.
• Newsletter. Your email address, and the date and internet address you signed up from. We keep the last two only as a record that the request came from you.
• Analytics. If, and only if, you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how the site is used. It does not tell us who you are. Our cookies page lists exactly what is set and for how long.

We do not buy personal data, and we do not build profiles of the people who visit this site.

Why we use it, and on what basis

Data protection law requires us to have a reason for using your information. Ours are:

• To answer your enquiry, and where it leads to work, to agree and carry out a contract with you. Basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
• To consider you for a role. Basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract of employment, and our legitimate interest in recruiting.
• To send you the newsletter. Basis: your consent, given by ticking the box.
• To understand how this website is used and improve it. Basis: your consent, given through the cookie choice.
• To meet our legal, health and safety and tax obligations. Basis: our legal obligations.

We do not make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell your personal data.

Who else sees it

Enquiries and applications go to the McPhillips inbox that deals with them, and to the people here who need to act on them. Beyond that, your information is handled by:

• the company that hosts this website, which holds the site and its database for us;
• Mailchimp, which sends our newsletter and holds the subscriber list;
• Google Analytics, but only if you have accepted analytics cookies;
• our professional advisers, and anyone we are required by law to tell.

Each of these acts on our instructions under a contract. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not pass it to other companies for their own marketing.

Where your information is held

This website and its database are held in the United Kingdom. Our newsletter provider is a United States company, so if you subscribe, your email address is transferred there under the safeguards UK law requires for international transfers. If you would rather your address were not held outside the UK, simply do not subscribe — it makes no difference to any other dealing you have with us.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries — for as long as we are dealing with them, and afterwards as part of our ordinary business records. Anything relating to a contract is kept for as long as the law and our insurers require.
• Job applications — normally twelve months for unsuccessful applicants, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
• CVs are never stored on this website. The file is emailed straight to the recruiting inbox and deleted from the website as soon as it has been sent.
• Newsletter — until you unsubscribe.

Keeping it secure

This website is served over an encrypted connection, and access to the systems holding your information is limited to the people who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously and keep it under review.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy;
• have anything inaccurate corrected;
• ask us to delete it, or to stop or restrict what we do with it;
• object to our using it, where our basis is legitimate interest;
• receive what you gave us in a portable form; and
• withdraw your consent at any time where consent is the basis — by unsubscribing from the newsletter, or by changing your cookie choice.

There is no charge for any of this, and we will reply within one month. Use the contact details below.
