IHE Award for Dale End Flood Alleviation

Last week we were overjoyed to receive recognition from the Institute Of Highway Engineers, as part of the winning team for the ‘Small Project Of The Year’ in their 2024 Mercia Branch Awards.

The project in question was a flood alleviation system for Coalbrookdale in Shropshire, in an area that often became overwhelmed during heavy rainfall. Working in partnership with Balfour Beatty Living Places on behalf of Telford & Wrekin Council, our expertise in specialist drainage systems proved invaluable in ensuring tight deadlines were met ahead of the crucial local tourism season.

This was a challenging project, and is a great example of a scheme where our experience and in-house skill set – particularly those of Contracts Manager Simon Westmacott – helped achieve the desired result on time and budget, despite many on-site obstacles.
