The Deep Dig…Steve Crooke

My role at McPhillips is…

Foreman/Site Supervisor Roads and Sewers.

I have been with the company since…

Originally I joined McPhillips back in 1996, but after leaving for a short while I re-joined in 2002 and have been here ever since.

I would describe my professional development with McPhillips as…

The company has always helped me, I have received very thorough training and also very good advice from other members of our team over the years.

The most challenging aspect of my role is…

The biggest challenge revolves around time – making sure that we have prepped the road ready for tarmacking. Also, just making sure that all members of the gang are working within health and safety regulations.

I would describe my colleagues as…

Good people, hardworking, very professional.

My colleagues would describe me as…

Hopefully, they would say that I am fair and driven to get the job done.

The single biggest thing that sets McPhillips apart is…

I would say family oriented, if I need to speak to a director the door is always open. I would also say that we look after our clients in a professional way.

Outside of work I really enjoy…

I do a lot of walking, from hill climbs to mountains such as Snowdon with a group of friends and family.
