McPhillips scoops apprenticeship award

At McPhillips we were very pleased to receive the award for the Apprenticeships category during the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards 2019 at Telford International Centre on 14th June.

The award was presented to recognise a company dedicated to the employment of apprentices and a star apprentice and was judged on strategies for skills promotion, proof of development and examples of outstanding apprentices that had transformed their lives and made a positive impact on the company. Our two-year, in-house apprenticeship scheme has been running since 1996 and since then has given a flying start to the careers of over 150 construction operatives.

McPhillips’ Marketing Manager Mark Kiddie said “Thanks go to Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s judges for presenting McPhillips with this accolade recognising our long-running apprenticeship scheme. It is vital to continue equipping the next generation of site workers with best-in-class training while addressing construction skills shortages. McPhillips apprentices are second-to-none and without them this award would not have been possible so congratulations to them all.”
