‘Local jobs for local people’ was the mantra of Jim McPhillips, back in 1964 when the McPhillips story began. Today, recruiting local people still plays the same important role in the company’s hiring strategy.

Our aim in the local community is to build lasting and rewarding careers. Employing those who live in the area ensures we are truly part of our local community. McPhillips currently employs 240 people, eighty percent of whom live within 20 miles of our Head Office.

Since 1997 we’ve run the McPhillips Apprenticeship Programme. Apprentices fulfil genuine roles and receive a competitive wage, whilst studying for an NVQ qualification at Telford College. Over 100 people have successfully completed the course, including Luke Courtnell in 2022…
