Investing In Tomorrow’s Engineers

We were delighted to welcome Matthew Swindell who attends Thomas Telford School for a week’s work experience. Matthew hopes to become a civil engineer, so where better to spend a week learning about the industry than McPhillips.

During his time with us Matthew visited our site in Brierley Hill, where we are working on a High Street regeneration project, he spent the day at Chester Zoo with our team delivering the new ‘Heart of Africa Zone’ and assisted with some stage two works at sites in Shrewsbury and Telford.

In addition to site visits, Matthew attended a CITB conference at Shrewsbury Town FC to hear about new funding opportunities, took part in a site managers meeting and carried out risk assessment and method statement work.

Stuart Bishop, Health & Safety Manager at McPhillips commented: “Matthew is a young man with a bright future. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting him for the week, I think he enjoyed his time with us too. We’ll be keeping in touch for sure.”
