During McPhillips’ Western Road Improvements for Birmingham City Council we needed to survey the structural integrity of existing bridges before diverting services and constructing new highway. In order to access the difficult-to-reach central sections of the bridge arch undersides above the canal an innovative proposal was designed for a stable, pontoon mounted scaffold with the assistance of a naval architect.
