Our New Apprentices Begin Their Journeys

We are delighted to welcome our new intake for this year’s McPhillips Apprenticeship Programme who were successfully selected following a good response to our recruitment process over the summer.

All of our new apprentices are aged 16-17 years old and over the next two years, each apprentice will combine their onsite work with McPhillips in tandem with Telford College, attending one week per month towards attaining an NVQ Level 2 in Construction Operations.

Our Apprenticeship Programme has been running since 1995. McPhillips’ apprentices are built from the ground up, gaining a unique set of practical skills developed by us through our diverse experience of civil engineering and building contracts.

Our SHEQ Manager Stuart Bishop commented… “Our new  apprentices have been placed into suitable civil engineering teams and will begin their training. We hope they go on to become future foremen, engineers, machine operators or whatever they enjoy the most. Career progression is a big part of McPhillips, we will give each apprentice our full support and I hope they make the most of it.”

About the McPhillips Apprenticeship Programme

McPhillips apprentices fulfil genuine roles within our company and receive a competitive wage whilst also studying for a qualification at college. Since 1995 well over 100 people have successfully completed the programme, over 20% of our direct workforce began life with McPhillips as apprentices.
