Work is back under way at a key affordable housing scheme in Shrewsbury thanks to leading Midlands’ construction company McPhillips.
The Telford-based company has resumed work on the STAR Housing scheme at Racecourse Crescent after the previous contractor went into liquidation halting construction last year.
The project, which will deliver 13 affordable rented homes, is now expected to be completed by this autumn.
McPhillips’ contract director Stuart MacKenzie said the company was committed to completing work as soon as possible following the delays.
“Getting the Racecourse Crescent development back on track is really important for Shrewsbury.
“Our experience in building affordable homes means we’ve a track record in delivering projects like this. The McPhillips team is cracking on and we’re absolutely committed to building these homes to the highest quality.
“We’ve got our sights firmly set on finishing by autumn 2025 and we’ll be doing everything we can to make that happen.”
Harpreet Rayet, managing director at STAR Housing, said: “We understand the challenges and disruptions our community has faced due to the delays.
“We appreciate the patience and support of our customers and stakeholders. With construction now in full swing, we are looking forward to delivering these much-needed homes and enhancing the local area.”
He added that the Racecourse Crescent development was a key part of ongoing efforts to provide quality, affordable housing in Shrewsbury and STAR Housing would continue to keep the community informed of progress.
