McPhillips is making excellent progress on the Worcester Street Connectivity Project in Kidderminster, with the scheme on track for completion by December 2025.
The project involves the demolition of several buildings including a former Woolworths store that has been empty for 15 years, alongside the Megavalue, Poundland and Sigma Aquatics buildings. These will be replaced by a new outdoor green space as part of a wider regeneration of Kidderminster’s town centre.
The scheme is being funded through the Government’s Future High Streets Fund, with Kidderminster receiving £20.5 million to transform the town centre into a place where people want to work, visit and interact.
Recent site visits have highlighted the significant progress being made, with works now moving above ground level after completion of the underground infrastructure phases.
Earlier this month Dan Redmond from McPhillips met on site with Councillor Dan Morehead, cabinet member for economic regeneration, planning and the green agenda at Wyre Forest District Council, to provide a project update.
Here’s what he had to say:
The Worcester Street project is critical to opening up the Lion Fields development – the former Glade site – where plans are in place to build up to 150 high quality homes, forming a key part of the wider regeneration of Kidderminster town centre.
With hoarding now removed, members of the public can see the progress being made on this important regeneration project.
