Junior footballers in Telford are celebrating after netting themselves new kit from award winning local construction firm McPhillips.
Wrekin Junior Tigers u12s are proudly sporting a smart red and blue kit at all their home fixtures, as well new t-shirts and training tops thanks to the generous donation.
This is the second time McPhillips has scored for the club, after buying a new away strip for the U10s back in 2023 – a kit that is still as good as new and being ‘recycled’ by the current Wrekin Junior Lions u9s.
The sponsorship of both teams is thanks to McPhillips’ Accounts Payable Assistant Andrea Phillips whose sons James and Lewis play for the Tigers and Lions respectively.
Andrea said: “When James was in the u10s McPhillips very kindly sponsored a fantastic new away kit for the team. When they outgrew the strip it made sense to hand it down to current u9s who are absolutely thrilled.
“What we didn’t expect was McPhillips to step up a second time! This very generous donation has ensured that both squads look their absolute best when they run out onto the pitch. The teams are very, very grateful.”
Val Hardy, company secretary at McPhillips said: “It is a really important part of our social values that we do all we can to support local community initiatives.
“We are delighted that we have now been able to kit out two of the young teams at Wrekin Juniors and we wish them both all the best for the season.”
Wrekin Juniors FC is one of the largest junior football clubs in Telford and promotes junior football for boys and girls aged from 4 to 16. The club’s mission statement is to grow and develop them not only as footballers but as confident young people.
