Building careers that last

When it comes to building careers that last, award-winning Telford construction company McPhillips has an impressive track record.

With more than 20 per cent of its 240-strong workforce made up of current or former apprentices, and 48 members of staff having clocked up 25 years or more with the company, McPhillips is living proof that a career in construction can be a career for life.

The company’s apprenticeship programme, delivered in partnership with Telford College, offers hands-on training with many going on to hold senior positions within the business.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week recently, a commemorative photograph was taken of all current and former apprentices in the business, along with training providers and directors.

Paul Inions, managing director of McPhillips, said: “Construction is one of those industries where, if you put in the work and embrace the opportunities, the career possibilities are genuinely limitless. We are proud to have so many long-serving members of our team who started with us as apprentices and have grown with us ever since.

“Careers Week is a great reminder of the incredible range of roles our industry offers – and we would encourage any young person considering their future to take a serious look at construction.
