Heritage Award for Burway Bridge

Tuesday, 8 December 2009

McPhillips have been awarded the Ludlow Heritage Award for 2009 for the recently completed project to rebuild the Burway Bridge for Shropshire County Council.  The original bridge collapsed during the summer 2007 floods and McPhillips undertook the project to build a permanent replacement which we completed in March 2009.

The award is for McPhillips' involvement as main contractor on the "innovative and high quality project".  The award goes on to say that "the project has been judged as being exemplary in terms of preserving and enhancing the Ludlow Conservation Area.  The use of modern and ancient building materials and repair technology coupled with high quality craftsmanship upholds the best traditions of construction in this unique town."
