McPhillips opens new building
Saturday, 6 June 2009
The 5000sq ft Edward James House at Hadley Park, Telford, is the final office building to be constructed by McPhillips in an £8 million development on the estate.
Pictured left and right respectively are Nicholas and Peter McPhillips, joint Managing Directors, who have named the building after their late father, founder of McPhillips 45 years ago.
“It is a dedicated high tech office development and we have been successfully contracted to build more than £8 million worth of bespoke individual offices for a number of high profile firms in the borough,” said Peter.
The property will be used jointly by Telford & Wrekin Council and The Primary Care Trust to provide services for people in need.
“We have constructed many buildings in Shropshire, the Midlands and across the UK but it just seemed quite a nice idea to name the building after our father Edward James McPhillips who started the firm in the early 1960’s. We have come a long way since those days,” said Nicholas.
Dylan Webster, Estates & Investment Team Leader for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: “The acquisition continues the council’s investment in the borough and further strengthens its Property Investment Portfolio.”
“The building will be occupied by the Joint Commissioning and Contracts Team which is a health service and local authority joint team that arranges contracts and services for a range of people with heath and care needs,” said Mandy Williams, Senior Resources Officer for Telford & Wrekin Council.
“This will include services for children, older people, adults and people with both physical and learning disabilities.”
Other leading companies to move onto the Hadley Park estate since construction work began three years ago are specialist driver trainers the TTC Group, digital print firm Telford Reprographics and telecommunications company Network Telecom.
The Princess Royal opened the TTC Group’s new HQ in 2007.
Over the past five years, McPhillips have built more than 250,000 sq ft of office accommodation across the West Midlands as well as business units and factory developments.
