Makita Factory Extension
Monday, 27 April 2009
McPhillips have won the contract to build a £1.3 million extension for Makita Manufacturing Europe UK. The 38,000 sq ft warehouse extension is at Makita's manufacturing HQ in Hortonwood, Telford.
“We do work on projects all over the UK but it is always pleasing to get contracts in our home county of Shropshire and especially as Makita is just around the corner from our offices in Hortonwood, Telford,” said Peter McPhillips, McPhillips Joint MD.
Anne Taylor, Director of Business Investment at Transforming Telford, said: “This is fantastic news for Telford. The partnership between Makita and McPhillips is a perfect example of how we should work together in the recession with local jobs for local people.”
The new build was officially launched by Makita MD Sam Hasebe using a specially engraved spade at the Makita HQ on Friday, April 24 to welcome the business boost to the area.
Makita's operations director Paul Harris said that McPhillips was chosen to build the new extension as they were a leading local civil engineering company, with a very professional approach and a high reputation.
The new extension will be completed in mid August 2009.
