Construction students visit

McPhillips were delighted to recently provide a tour of the BREEAM Outstanding Dogs Trust Shrewsbury rehoming centre to a number of first year Foundation Degree students from Shrewsbury College.  The seven students and tutor, Nick DiMarco, were given a guided tour of the facility with the opportunity to talk to members of the construction team and inspect features such as the Passivhaus ventilation, Warmcell insulation, photovoltaic panels, Biomass district heating plant, green roof and rainwater harvesting.  They were told how these features have led to a 70% reduction in energy consumption for the centre compared to a traditional rehoming facility and have enabled the centre to achieve an A+ rating for energy efficiency.  Thanks go to Nick DiMarco for his interest in our project and kind testimonial.

Providing all the assistance we can to the next generation of entrants to the construction industry lies at the heart of McPhillips' philosophy and this commitment is embodied in our Apprenticeship Scheme.
